"Surfing the Mobile Internet" to be published October 15 in Fortune Magazine
ARLINGTON, VA - August 8, 2007 - Yankee Group, the Custom Projects division of FORTUNE magazine, and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) announced today that they will collaborate on the production of a special feature, "Surfing the Mobile Internet," to be published in the October 15, 2007, issue of FORTUNE magazine.
"Surfing the Mobile Internet" will explore how the Internet has fundamentally changed the way we work, play and communicate with each other. Evolving wireless and mobile broadband technologies and trends are now enabling the next major wave of Internet development by creating the Mobile Internet.
"The next generation Mobile Internet will allow consumers and businesses to connect to others and access new types of applications and new forms of information wherever and whenever they want," said Eliot Weinman, president of Yankee Group's Events and Publishing Division. "The development of this new Mobile Internet marketplace has just begun, and we are excited about partnering with TIA and FORTUNE magazine in this market's early development stages by publishing this special feature."
The editorial focus for this special advertising feature will cover:
- What is the Mobile Internet?
- What makes up the evolving Mobile Internet ecosystem?
- Who will be the winners and losers?
- How can companies profit and build sustainable business models from the next generation of the Internet?
- What impact will the Mobile Internet have on enterprises and consumers?
- Other topics addressed will include mobile TV and advertising, alternative mobile broadband technologies, mobile security, mobile search and mobile commerce.
"The number of broadband subscribers in the U.S. increased from fewer than 5 million in 2000 to nearly 57 million in 2006,* and the introduction of WAP (Wireless Application Protocol), has opened up so many opportunities for wireless carriers," said TIA President Grant Seiffert. "Everyday activities like checking email, catching the news or sports updates, and downloading music and video are essential to the next generation of wireless products. WAP will help make that a reality." TIA works as an advocate for high-tech manufacturers, especially promoting the deployment of broadband technologies to all Americans.
John White of Fortune Custom Projects added, "We are pleased to again be working in collaboration with Trendsmedia, the events and publishing division of Yankee Group, who will be selling and marketing the Mobile Internet special advertising feature. In addition to being the leading integrated media and research firm covering the wireless broadband marketplace, Fortune's alliance with Yankee Group has only increased the quality of information and research we can now provide our readers."
